Wood Waste Recycler Coming to Albuquerque

Mt. Taylor Machine, LLC will open a wood waste collection facility in Albuquerque’s South Valley, opening mid- August. The material will be ground onsite and then shipped to the Grants/Milan area to be made into wood pellets, used for heating applications. The business will accept wood waste cutoffs from 2x4, 2x6, 2x8, etc. commonly used in the construction of homes and buildings. The material must be clean, in that no resins or glues are part of the wood. No particleboard, plywood or MDF products will be accepted. Furthermore, any deliveries made must be free of miscellaneous trash such as bottles, paper, etc.

Mt Taylor can offer a 15 or 20 yard roll-off container for collection at large volume job sites, and they will place several 40 yard containers around Albuquerque as centralized collection points. The cost will be minimal to customers and potentially free if the loads are sorted and clean. Matthew Allen, president of Mt. Taylor Machine, would like to secure long-term commitments from contractors and builders, so as to sustain the generation of material. He expects to send a full 18-wheeler load of material daily to his processing plant. He plans to have a Hammer Hog and a pallet-eating machine onsite to process the wood. Over the long-term, Allen hopes to accept more wood varieties for a more industrial-grade of pellet as well. The New Mexico Recycling Coalition plans to invite Mr. Allen to speak at an upcoming C&D Recycling Task Force meeting the week of August 14th.
